Sooke: A Western Getaway
Have you ever been sitting in your urban home on your day off, trying to relax, when a loud truck goes by or the construction crew next door starts hammering away at the new development going in? Maybe you'd prefer to be awoken by birds and a breeze instead of a leafblower. If you're looking to make that get-away move, Sooke might be a good place to look.
Sooke is considered to be the westernmost community in the Great Victoria Area. It's located about 45 minutes to an hour away from the downtown core of Victoria, and located conveniently in between the two is Langford, one of the most popular centres for shopping in the area. Technically, Sooke stretches all the way from the outskirts of Metchosin all the way to Port Renfrew on the western side of Vancouver Island's south; so if you're looking to get sort of out of town or way out of town, Sooke can provide.
A lot of folks have decided to build their dream homes in the secluded community of Jordan River, a place where a wide variety of parcels of land are currently available. Whether you want to be right on the ocean or up on hill, you can find something suitable there.
If you'd like to have access to amenities and the vibrant community Sooke has to offer, there are both older homes and brand new developments in town, as well as oceanfront homes that will be scooped up very quickly in the future.

A sizeable lot is important when you're planning on building your dream home or making additions to an existing home. More than that, being near the ocean is one of the biggest benefits of being on Vancouver Island, so why not take advantage?
One of our favourite homes in Sooke right now is 5889 Sooke Rd., located right on the water on the way into town. The cabin-style home is 1,629 feet of warm and homey appeal. What's more is that it sits on 1.38 acres of slightly elevated land, with the ocean just a few steps away down a slight gradient. The lot is also duplex-zoned, so if you're looking to build your own home and have a bit of extra income on the side, the world's your oyster!
On chilly days, the oil furnace will keep you warm, and the upstairs loft can house either all of your shoes, or whatever you can imagine. The kitchen offers a country feeling perfect for baking pies in the winter.
